Level 4, 2 Rich St, Abbotsford
The Cobild spec suite at 2 Rich Street, Abbotsford presents a masterful dialogue between raw industrial elements and refined materiality. The fourth-floor workspace orchestrates a compelling spatial narrative through strategic material juxtaposition and considered zoning.
The suite's distinctive character emerges from the tension between exposed concrete ceilings with visible services and luxurious interventions of red marble. This statement stone anchors the space, manifesting as both monolithic kitchen island and sculptural reception counter—creating visual rhythm and material continuity throughout the plan.
Transparency and porosity define the circulation strategy, with curved glass partitioning and elegant white metal screens establishing a visual permeability that maintains connection while articulating discrete functional zones. The perforated timber ceiling plane introduces warmth while mitigating acoustics in the open-plan environment.
Natural light floods the interior through floor-to-ceiling glazing, where expanded metal mesh screens moderate solar gain while framing views to the surrounding urban context. This considered fenestration strategy establishes a dialogue between interior and exterior that shifts throughout the day.
The restrained material palette—concrete, timber, glass, and strategic bursts of terracotta and red marble—creates a sophisticated backdrop for the flexible workspaces. Carefully curated furniture elements in natural timber tones and muted upholstery complement the architectural language, reinforcing the space's dual commitment to functionality and aesthetic refinement.
